Propane Safety
At Charter Fuels, safety is a priority! All of our employees are trained in propane safety and can help direct you in a propane emergency.
If You Suspect A Propane Leak:
If there’s the slightest chance that you smell gas around the house, workplace, or gas equipment, follow these safety instructions immediately:
- Send everyone outside right away. Do not touch any light switches, land-line phones, or appliances.
- Turn off the gas supply using the shut-off valve on the tank or cylinder. See a diagram of your shut off valve.
- Use a neighbor’s phone to call us right away.
- Stay outside; leave the gas off.
- Stay outside until our service technician says it’s safe to go back inside.
- Have our trained service technician re-light gas appliances and equipment for you.
Please contact us if you have questions about these or any other safety practices.
Propane Gas Safety Checks
Your propane system should be inspected periodically by one of our trained propane professionals in order to make sure it is running efficiently and safely. To schedule your annual Propane Safety Check contact us today.
Call Before You Dig
Before you dig on your property, you must find out where the underground utilities are. Whether you’re a professional excavator or a homeowner, smart digging always requires a call to 811. Once your underground lines have been marked, you will know the approximate location of your utility lines and can dig safely. And, since propane is not a utility, contact us to locate your propane gas lines or for more information. |
